Frequently Asked Questions

We know there are loads of questions that people need answering more so if you are new to Greyhound Racing, hopefully we have covered most general questions in this section - if you still have any queries please give us a ring and we will do our best to answer your questions.

How Do I Grade My Dog?

Grading your dog at Highgate is very easy, you simply bring your dog in to one of our trial sessions that are run after our meetings on Thursday or Sunday. You should aim to bet at the track for 9pm.

If you are unable to attend at night we have a dedicated trial session on Sunday mornings from 9am. Trials are £5.00 per dog and if you would like your dog grading then it must run along side another dog and it must wear a race jacket.

Can I Enter Open Races?

Yes, Open races are available for anyone to enter any dog they wish regardless of where they live or what track you currently race your dog at.

We have regular Open races on Sunday evenings and are available over all our racing distances. If there are insufficient entries races may be cancelled.

Graded races are only open to dogs that are graded at the track.

Microchipping My Dog?

All dogs that are graded at Highgate must be microchipped. Where you get your dogs Microchipped is up to you but if you do get stuck the trackside Vet does offer a Microchipping service.

The price of Microchipping services vary from Vet to Vet so please ring round but averages £25.

The track side Vet charges £15 per dog.

How Do I Watch The Video Clips?

The video clips on our site have been recorded in Windows Media Video [WMV] format to ensure cross compatibility. Unfortunately some mobile devices as this would degrade the quality for general use.

If you are using a PC and are experiencing difficulties with Codecs if you perform a Windows update this should resolve the problem.

Smartphone Access?

We currently have a dedicated mobile access page for you to view the Advance Card. This mobile service will be extended to include race form and also race results if we think there is demand for it.
